Brother Ebert Waldo Franck

 -1941-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

Installation was held on a Saturday evening and a good time was had by all. Refreshments and dancing were enjoyed and it was a very nice evening.

In February there was a discussion about charging 50 cents per plate for the dinner before the stated meeting. It was passed my motion and vote. In the March stated meeting, Bro. A. Stocks, an engineer on the Bay Bridge gave a very informative talk on the construction of 2 bridges in San Francisco.

On March 28th the brethren laid to rest Bro. V. J. Clifford PM of Clovis Lodge, in the Clovis Cemetery. Bro. Clifford was a well respected member of the community and of Clovis Lodge.

In April the Central California Masonic Service Bureau was formed for the purpose of serving the brethren who were called to fight in the war. A motion was carried that Clovis Lodge join the new formed bureau and pay its share of the costs. A motion was also carried to have portraits of all of the Past Master's of Clovis Lodge taken so that they would be there for all ages.

New softer chairs were ordered for the Lodge room and for the Master and Wardens, the motion carried by unanimous vote. In July there were submitted to the Lodge a list containing 16 names who were presented with life memberships in view of their long and faithful service to Clovis Lodge. The motion to give the life memberships carried.

Only in Clovis Lodge could a motion to have the coolers repaired in August, when the average temperature is 105 degrees, lose!!! In the following months several reports were given to bring the members up to speed in the war effort. It seems, as it should have been, that this was the first and foremost on their minds and that the day to day running of the Lodge was interlaced between the reports. But Clovis Lodge continued to move forward, they passed votes to buy Past Master aprons, and to buy a $100.00 War Bond each month starting in January of 1942.

Bro. James Wilson Bittle, Past Master of Clovis Lodge, was laid to rest on September 6, 1941 and was going to be missed by Clovis Lodge for all of his service and by the community of Clovis.

On March 6, 1978 Bro. Ebert W. Franck passed away at his home after a long illness. Kind words spoken were, "Bro. Ebert was one of the most proficient Master's. He will surely be remembered for his gentle manner, his love of life and his fellow man." He was laid to rest on March 9, 1978.
